I really don't understand the thinking. In 35 years of driving, I have yet to hear a valid reason for not wearing a seat belt. Yes there is that one in a million chance that in a fluke accident the belt did more harm than good, but I'll wager those odds. Many states ticket the driver now if the passenger doesn't have a belt on. One of the temps that was on my shift asked me if I would drop him off on the way home. Not a problem until he got in the truck. I noticed he didn't put his belt on so I told him he had to. He stated he would not and didn't believe in them. Still no problem,"no belt, no ride". The prospect of a 3 mile walk at midnight changed his belief and he reluctantly put the belt on. Never asked me again for a ride though.
