A cousin of mine died following back surgury at age 63. The operation went well, but they lost her in the recovery process afterward.
She emailed me about it a couple of days before the operation, and ended the email with, "Pray for me".
From the tone of the email and the way she ended it, I've always wondered if she didn't have a promontion.
This gets deeper. Before I met my wife of 45 years, I was briefly engaged to a young lady I'll call Charlotte. After we became engaged, it became painfully obvious that she simply wasn't ready for marriage. We called it off amicably and eventually went our separate ways.
She ended up in Memphis, and I wound up in Nebraska, but I got enough through the grapevine over the years to know she never had married. Then one night she appeared to me in a dream. There was no big scene, but I recall she gave me a hug and said, "Goodbye". I wondered about it for a few days and spaced it off, but the date stuck in my mind, August 15, 1993. Sometime later, thanks to the Internet, I learned for a fact she died--August 15, 1993.
It gets deeper yet. Charlotte always wore a very distinctive perfume. About a dozen times over the years, at random times and in diverse locations, I've unexpectedly gotten a whiff of that same perfume. Is her spirit following me around? It's an interesting, but not uncomfortable, thought.
BTW, our daughter knows the story, my wife does not.
