My supervisor called a department meeting for 10:00 this morning. We had been told some time ago that because we are a state supported college and revenues are down because of the economy, that there were budget cuts coming.
She said she had been told that one person had to be cut from the department.
The good news was that since we had one person that was transferring to another facility, instead of laying off someone, that position would not be filled.
Soooo, we are safe from any lay offs until next September.
Of course the work load for that person will be distributed among the rest of us.
I've been down this road before. Familiarity doesn't make it any more pleasant.
