So you don't want anyone over 50k to be able to hold office, and whoever does hold office doesn't get paid for it, is that what you're saying?

So I take it you make less than 50k. Could you then afford to go be a representative for free?

Sounds kind of mixed up, Old.

Let me run this by you. My mother grew up on a 1/4 section farm in Kansas. Wore feed sacks for dresses, plucked chickens, the whole nine yards. Married at 19, divorced at 29, and took all the family debt, $9,000 in 1973 dollars, and moved to Indianapolis with 2 kids, and into a trailer my great grandfather had just died in. Got a barely good enough job as a secretary and started college courses at night. Slowly moved her way up in the company, finally got her masters degree after 10 or 12 years of night school. Made vice president, then board of directors. She is very comfortable today. Did she take something from someone else? Did anyone give her anything? No, and no. She did it all on her own under difficult circumstances, and from very humble beginnings.

Do you think she remembers what it's like not to have much? You bet she does. But now you want to hold her success against her? I take offense at that. She, and people like her, are the ones we need in office.

I think you would agree with me that the real problem is CAREER POLITICIANS. People who want the office for their own personal benefit or gain. Just because someone is well off doesn't mean they want to stick it to someone else. You have fallen for the class envy game. Holding someone's lifetime of hard work against them is un-American. You could've chosen another way to make a living that may have brought you more wealth, but you chose to stay on the farm knowing how difficult and unstable that could be. And now you hold other people's success against them when you had all the same opportunities they did.

The world is ever-changing, and not always for the better. But you have to change with it or accept the consequences.

Today's Featured Article - Ford Part Number Trivia - by Forum Participants. "Replaced by" means the part was superseded. All of my part books date back to 1964 and New Holland have changed some part numbers. They usually put the old Ford part number on the package. I was suppressed when I looked up the part number of the auxiliary drive shaft because for some reason the part number went through a radical change and it lost its "Basic Part Number". Ford part numbers follow the following rules. Most part numbers are in three parts. The middle part is called the ... [Read Article]
