I had the same issue with a couple W30"s. They are a wet sleeve and came out quite easy. I made a tool that straddled the rod and contacted the pin bosses on the piston. I have since loaned the tool to a fellow, so I can't send you a pic, but it looked similar to the front fork of a bicycle. The fork part was quite short though with a piece of 1" pipe welded to it to pound on.
