JDseller, this is something that goes on no matter what you are talking about so don't let it get to you. If you think about it when we comment as you did it just makes us come down to the bad mouth persons level. Over the years that my dad, brothers, and I farmed we owned and used over a dozen JDs, six or seven Case, six or seven IH/Farmalls, two MF, two or three Fords, two Alis Chalmers, and even a couple Kuboata. I have also owned seven or eight Cockshutts. I may have forgotten a tractor or two in the mix but that should about cover the list of tractors. As for equipment there isn't one brand out there we didn't have at one time or another. Now JD is my first pick, Cockshutt is my second but that doesn't make them superior, it's just my preference. To be honest the MF 65 was the best tractor pound for pound, dollar for dollar we ever owned. The Case O Matic 800 was the worst and most costly second by a JD A, and JD 2010. The JD 70 was a work horse but sucked gas and the JD 730 said, nope it's below 70 so i'm not leaving the shed. My dads favorite was the older JDs and that MF 65. I liked working any of them except that 800 Case O Matic, I would have rather farmed with two goats and a shovel. One brother was JD only, the other brother was Case only and depending on the brother you talked too that was the best kind for cost and resale. Now i think they all cost too much, make you work too hard, and any of them will eat your lunch if things aren't going right.

Today's Featured Article - Harvestin Hay: The Early Years (Part 2) - by Pat Browning. The summer of 1950 was the start of a new era in farming for our family. I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
