I think you need a licence in many areas to use the very long-lasting sprays. There used to be soil sterilizer type sprays that would last a full year & more, but have fallen out of favor.
As Nancy said, glyphosate (roundup) to kill the green stuff, and a pre that will last about 3 months to keep seeds from sprouting. I'll suspect many of the corn pre-emerge sprays will work well - as Nancy said, I've lost touch with them as well. The EPA-types don't like sprays that last a long time any more, so I've gotten away from them.
