Took my 98 Dodge one ton to the dealer to have a funky acting cruise control looked at. They found a sticky switch in the steering wheel that can be easily removed and replaced. The shocker came when they said the part is not available anymore. They're calling around to other dealers to try to find one. The service manager said "after all, it IS twelve years old". He did say the shake up in the auto industry has slowed down parts availability.
Then while I was there I mentioned the horn switch in the steering wheel was acting up and the horn would start singing on it's own while sitting in the garage. He went to the computer and came back and told me the part costs $1100.00! YES, I did put the right amount of zeroes in there. He told me to put a push button switch in the dash. I told him I don't cobble things up like that! Not on a pickup that's ONLY twelve years old. I told them the local Grab-N-Go will get a visit. WOW! Jim
