I have had bats twice now. They can get into openings as small as 3/8 of an inch. It is hard to get rid of them. It is illegal to kill them. What I did was open the side of eve on the house in the area they came in and let them all fly out around dusk. You can watch them fly out. Then i put the siding back on and siliconed everything really well. I cleaned their mess up with bleach. But be very careful, and you might want to get a professional to do it because bat waste can cause histoplasmosis and that is deadly. wear a OSHA approved respirator and through away your clothes you are wearing. it is dangerous stuff. the problem with bats is they can get in such a small hole or crevis. you have to literally go around your house and silicone every spot that you think they can get in. you have to basically think like a bat. if you can keep them out two years they more then likely won"t come back is what i read on the internet. becareful
