Had a real bad scare today. About 8am this morning I was moving stuff around in the shop. I knocked a bottle of Hi-yield 38+ insecticide (38% permethrin) over on the floor. Our dog Lilly (97 pound golden retriever lab mix) was with me, and I noticed her sniffing around the spill as soon as it happened. I cleaned the spill right away and took the dog in the house for the wife to watch/keep an eye on. About noon, Stephanie noticed Lilly's eyes twitching, and when she walked she wasnt very stable. Off to the races...She called the vet, and they recommended taking Lilly to the local emergency animal vet hospital in Blue Ash (ohio) that is a normally 55 minuate trip. I was hauling the mail....we were there in 27 minuates. They put a cathater in, charcoal pills, and a bath. Lilly is gonna be ok, but sure scared the crap out of me. Lilly has been with us 3 years last saturday. she was a stray that wondered into our yard (and hearts) and it would kill me to loose her. The whole trip there I was beside myself with worry of what might have to be done. THANK GOD that wasnt the case! I will update tommorow when the furball comes home. (she had to stay over tonight)
