I have a ton and a half chain fall with a 20' reach. This works, but is slow. When another tractor or 4 wheel drive vehicle is available) I use a "snatch block" chained to the front of the trailer and a cable passing back under the "dead" tractor hooked to the pulling vehicle. This way you are pulling straight against the trailer and it's tow vehicle. Of course none of the trailers I've used were equipped with a winch!!
