Along those same lines, I bought a new alternator and as a test, checked the resistance between R2 and the case. It showed about 4k ohms. It seemed to me that this would cause the battery to run down if I connected it to bat so I took it back to AutoZone. They tested it and said everything (including the diodes) were OK. I would think that there should be no connection between the case (ground) and R2. Is this true?
