When irrigation first came to central MN, lots of farmers used the 1800 Oliver to power pto water pumps. Apparently there is a removable cover above the pto shaft, and a shaft could be inserted there, to be driven directly off the engine, rather than turning all the gears, etc. that are part of the conventional pto drive. Don"t know if that carried over to the 1850.
