2 of 19 respondents are full time farmers & the rest professionals with a farm background.
Too bad so many farmers are like my Dad. "If it worked good in 1955 it still works now." No use for or afraid of computers & modern technology except colour satelite TV, microwave ovens, indoor plumbing, refrigerators & comfortable tractor cabs etc.
Couldn't afford local land as European mega corporation was buying all the farms around home.
Dislike poverty, so went to school & then got a trades ticket. Do tech work with electrical & control systems on Candu reactors. Captain on Emergency Response Team also.
Have 50 acres next to Dad's farm & investing in suburban land to eventualy finance a hobby farm.

The Revival of a John Deere Combine - by The Red, John Fritz. For several years I had been driving by a farm house on the west side of Indianapolis that had a John Deere combine parked in high weeds in a lot behind the house. The gentleman no longer farmed because the entire area was developed with housing and light industry. I had stopped several times and knocked on the door but no one would answer.
