Borrowed a 12 foot cargo trailer (3~4 year old rig) from a friend about 6 weeks ago and had a valve stem blow while on the highway with the trailer empty. Luckily we were about 500 feet from a Walmart and the tire repair shop was open. They fixed the tire and got me back on the road for just the cost of the valve stem --- $1.50. They would not accept any labor and no tipping either. The valve on the other tire was inspected and found to be good.
This was my first experience with bad valve stems too. Looking back I guess I should have replaced them both with metal ones.
