Thanks for all the comments! It turned out the radiator was clogged. I removed it from the tractor and backflushed it with clean water. Lots of chunks of gooey stuff came out. I would complain to the radiator shop that rebuilt it, but it is no longer there. Seems the owners were running some other business on the side... After making sure that the water ran freely and clearly through the radiator, I put it all back together and !viola! the gauge is rock steady under the "U" in "RUN". I've even done some blading and mowing with it already. This is like a new tractor! Oops - it pretty much is, since the complete engine is rebuilt. I even put on a new starter and water pump. I think the only engine part not rebuilt or replaced is the distributer. I had forgotten how much fun plowing and mowing and blading can be with a tractor that works! Looking forward to many happy Fergie hours.. Larry
