How do we know that this was not payment or partial payment for some work or service that your father did for the one that he got it from? Without the facts, no one knows the "deal". So, by all rights, it stays with you unless he wants to buy it from you, especially since it has been restored by your father. If he does not understand, then he is not worth keeping as a "good neighbor". There are too many people today that operate on dichotomy. By that, I mean they will not accept the same terms that they expect others to follow. I am betting that if the tables were turned, he would look at you like you had 5 eyes if you asked for something that had been in his possesion for over 20 years.
