To remove the crude to ensure it isn't ruining shafts,gears & bearings only a total disasembly & scrubing will do. Farmer fixes make me mad as h*ll as well. Often an ounce of prevention can't be spared as all resources have been used used on a pound of cure. If planning & service is reactive rather than pro-active any business will suffer. Ever check into the farm acidents, equipment damage, loss of life or limbs caused by short cuts & temporary fixes? Just find & clean up after one person gets wrapped around a pto shaft. "He was in a hurry or couldn't afford repair parts", the story changes afterwards what could or couldn't be afforded.
