Can somebody help me with this problem. We had 25 inches of rain about 10 days ago and the grass is going crazy. Mowing Saturday on my IH444 diesel tractor; grass heavy; tractor working hard for about 1 hour; engine running wide open the whole time except for occasional turn. Noticed the tractor seemingly running at higher rpm than usual; reduced throttle; engine began to surge slightly; re-advanced the throttle to wide open but tractor failed to resume full wide open rpm; thereafter continued to surge slightly; continued mowing for an additional 10 minutes; reduced throttle to idle and tractor completely stopped and would not restart. Yesterday, bled fuel system for air; tractor would not start; towed tractor and it started immediately. Mowed for 15 - 20 minutes. After that time, tractor repeated the same symptoms. This time, however, it stopped under load and towing it would not start it. Whats going on here; any thoughts? Any guidance would be appreciated. Kajun

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
