When it comes to custom fabrication of items factory made, I've spent as much or more more to tinker something together. Then I'm left with something looking "home brew" plus all the extra time spent that could have made money elsewhere.
But it's your time,money safety & tractor.
The idea of a solid set of bargin off brand fenders being bolted on sounds reasonable.
