James, sounds like we were in some of the same neighborhood. Started pumping gas at .15 gal. .12 during gas wars. Got paid $1.00/hr and could fill up the car, treat her to a burger and a movie for $5.00 with money left over.
I was at a family reuninon a few years back and an old gentleman told me that he took my dads mechanic job at the Chevrolet Dealership in Lamesa when dad moved to Big Springs to be the service manager.
