Some nice photos of restored old service stations. I see one that has gas at 29.9. It's been a long time since that.

old gas stations

Enjoyed the video; thanks for sharing with us.

Remember as a kid going with my dad to Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, La.

He would fill up the car once we crossed the TX/LA state line.

Gas was 8 cents a gallon in LA.

Back in the day, worked at a Gulf station during the Summer.

Regular was 10 cents a gallon and Ethyl was 25 cents a gallon.

Minimum wage was $1.25; good money for a 15 year old kid.

Nice old stations and pumps. Thanks for sharing.
I can remember gas selling for 19.9 and if there was a good gas war it would get down to 16.9 cents a gallon. I believe that was in the early 1970's but could have been in the sixties.

Very cool. the lowest I remember gasoline being was 85 cents per gallon, in the early 80s.

My grandfather, (died last summer he was 88) Owned a gas station in the 40s and 50s, He was selling gasoline for 22 cents per gallon in the 50s.

I remember those, Spur was always the lowest. When they would have one, dad would send me to the station to fill every 5 gallon can we had on the farm, five gaallons for one dollar. Ususally had to make two or three trips in the pick-up. Love to see those prices again.

Musta been early 60's, anyhow around 'here'? I remember 29.9, maybe 26.9 a time or 2. But it was very stable at 29.9 for a long time, couple years I think when I was old enough to read my numbers.

Old gas stations are a horror story around here. People keep finding old leaking underground tanks on property where everybody had forgetten. Tried to forget or missed an old tank when cleaning up.
The government just goes wild with anything to do with ground water quality since the Walkerton Water mess 10 years ago.

Worked in a Chevron station in 1967. Supreme was 36.9 and Custom Supreme was 43.9; 100+ octane.
Every week , a Shelby Cobra would come in and fill up with the Custom Supreme and I would say to myself, "I guess if he can afford a Cobra, he can afford 43.9 cents a gallon."

i can remember gas at 29'9 when i was just a kid, when i started driving it was 45.9, i thought i was getting ripped of when it went to 50 cents, what kind of deal is that? spend a buck and only get 2 gallons! i always wanted a old gas station, could set up the outside to look like a station in the late 40's or early 50's with era correct cars trucks and tractors, cans, ads, ect, the inside would make a great place to work on old tractors, the office are would be a good place for a big coffee pot and some chairs so other old farts could enjoy it too and swap stories

14.9 for reg and 16.9 for premium during a gas war in lincoln ne. summer of 1971. had a $5 bill and got bunches of change when i filled up my 64 ford.

Worked in a gas station when young. I remember the first car that I put $10 worth of gas in. Thought I had seen everyting. It was a Cadillac.

James, sounds like we were in some of the same neighborhood. Started pumping gas at .15 gal. .12 during gas wars. Got paid $1.00/hr and could fill up the car, treat her to a burger and a movie for $5.00 with money left over.

I was at a family reuninon a few years back and an old gentleman told me that he took my dads mechanic job at the Chevrolet Dealership in Lamesa when dad moved to Big Springs to be the service manager. He couldn't see how dad could spend all the extra money he was going to be making. From $12/wk up to $18 per wk.
