For those that may not be aware---there are several formulations of Preen for gardens.

Some contains chemical, some does not. Just know what you are buying and using.

Folk on other sites claim to have good results using corn gluten meal from their local feed store and with substantial savings.

Also realize that it needs multiple applications throughout the growing season.

For me gardening is not about having a chemical free garden. It is about raising vegetables with taste and texture, pleasant appearance, for abundance, and savings. The tomatoes that generally come from the store are what I call cardboard tomatoes. I grow very specific varieties which are pleasing to me and am quite selective.
