I clean air filters ONE time then replace them. A plugged filter or one that is blown out too many times, make for more fuel and shorted engine life. Just changed a neighbors air filters in his tillage tractor. He raised cane with me for "wasting" $100. He is using a gallon less per hour now than he was.(We are talking heavy pulling) So due the math on how much he "saved" by not changing his filters earlier.
