I finally broke down and decided to service my big tractor since it has to work so darned hard in the summer.

Geeze! It costs a lot of money to do that anymore! :>(

Should be good fer another 4 or 5 years now, right? :>)

It's old, but it sure is a hefty "brute".

I've got the old sister turned up as far as I dare go and it'll just yank like a D8 Cat.

Noisier than bloody he!! tho. :>(

Look at the bright side... I bet is cost only a fraction as much as your neighbour with that big fancy green one!
I bet for as many hours as you put on it she probably should be good for 5 years too....
I change engine oil every hundred hours on the one I whip the hardest but hydraulics and the rest of it go 500-1000 hours.

Just be careful going back in the other direction. Looks like you could drive right off the edge. Bill(Wis)- Non-dues paying member of "The Flat Earth Society".

I yanked the air filters out of 'er last night. Derned nert broke my back trying to lift those filthy things.

Probably why the air filter indicator was flashin' at me? :>(

There you go, disking up all that good stubble mulch. Told myself to not bug you any more about dryland farming cause your soil does not blow like mine, but I couldn't resist the dig.
Not supposed to get over 50 degrees here today,,mixed with snow.

You are definitely right, it costs a lot of money to look after "stuff". Just recently put over $ 600 worth of hydraulic/trans oil in an 8100 JD. After all that, only the first pail taken out had anything wrong with it. I do however have some "good slightly used" hydraulic oil which some of my vintage "stuff" wiil get.

I clean air filters ONE time then replace them. A plugged filter or one that is blown out too many times, make for more fuel and shorted engine life.
Just changed a neighbors air filters in his tillage tractor. He raised cane with me for "wasting" $100. He is using a gallon less per hour now than he was.(We are talking heavy pulling) So due the math on how much he "saved" by not changing his filters earlier.
