Since 86 I have owned 7 of the F350 dually, and the corp farm here has 5 that I keep up with. Once you get used to the extra length/width you should'nt have any problems. Just remember you can't pull up and park in the front door at Wally World. You can park it ok, but Mr & Mz Yuppie will block you in so that when you leave it's a PITA to get out. I don't think your wife and 2 kids would be comfortable at all on a long trip in just and extended cab. You're on the right track, I would stick with a real truck and get the Ford 350. Don't let a golf club hauling yuppie talk you into a throw away Chibby. The Dodge running gear is good but the cab would be too small to be comfortable for the kids in the back seats, and they ride rough. If you get a Chibby diesel you'll still need a Ford or Dodge unless you stay close enough to walk back home from the breakdown.
