If the six positions of the lever don't seem to make a difference, it seems like something is not set right. I am not familiar with your model tractor but on mine there is a hydraulic bypass valve that must be open as well when in position control. This keeps the 3 pt. from moving. Changing the angle of the blade might help. When I push heavy clay around with mine (class II 3 pt. 8' box) and take too big of a bite, I'll spin a tire long before I hurt the blade or the tractor.
