I am just about done with the paint on my W-9 and I have sandblasted every part on it. I did not have any problem with rust after sandblasting, except when I was ready to primer, I made the mistake of using one of those acid/water metal etch products on the recently blasted metal. It was rust covered the next day and I had to wire brush and used NAPA Permatex Extend. My advice is to keep the metal dry until you can primer. I let most parts sit for weeks after blasting with no rust. Just be sure to tape very very well. I used duct tape, plastic bags and carpet to protect all seal areas. Good luck on yours.
