If yours is like my 91 F150(4.9L six), that gage really isn't a gage. It's more like a mechanical idiot light, either off or on. It doesn't really show pressure, and the sending unit is just an off-on grounding type switch. It was the first truck I ever had that didn't show a little lower oil pressure when idling hot. I finally got curious enough to check into it.
