It's amazing how the growing seasons vary throughout NY. Went to SUNY Alfred in the early 1980's. Had frost one year before Sept. 10 and did not have any here at home till late October. I can remember the farm manager there saying any corn planted had to be ready to take a frost by Labor Day. Three cuttings of hay was a good year there but is almost expected at home unless you have a severe wet or dry summer. Fellow students from the Southern Tier thought 85 day corn was long season!
