Don't know if anyone really cares, but just for the record, here's the actual answer to your question.
No, if he had referred to white people, he wouldn't have been in trouble. Discrimination laws only apply when the one discriminated against is a member of a "protected class". White men are not a "protected class" under the Constitution- minorities, women, gays, etc. are. As the number of "protected classes" expands (Zen Bhuddist onion worshippers, weasels, who knows what else in the future), the majority's rights will continue to be eroded. I'm thinking eventually I will be required to hand every minority person I meet a $20 bill, just to atone for all my past sins.
