i built many a slide in wrecker unit back in them days with Warn and Ramsey 8000# electric winches...winches were in the neighborhood of 1200 bux back then...few years ago i decided to build a winch truck to use around ranch and bought a 8000# harbor Freight electric on sale for 299.00 its every bit as powerfull as those high priced winches and it hasnt given me a minutes problem. it also has the remote electrics...just a thot if the used winch is around same money.
