How many connections on the generator? (The 0EM 9N generator uses only one wire.) Assuming there's only one wire connected to the generator (it fits with the rest of your description), the wire from the generator should go to the bottom side of the small round box under the battery. The wire from the top of the box should go to the end of the terminal block resistor that is also connected to the battery (either directly or through the ammeter). For more detail, check the 9N/2N wiring diagram at nseries.com. If the generator has more than one wire connected to it, are you sure the tractor is a 9N? What is it's serial number?
