If there are no passages in the side of the block weld or bolt a patch there and repair the engine than use it and enjoy! Years ago a 7700 diesel combine west of Ashkum, Il. had a hole in the block and the farmers bolted a patch on the block and rebuilt that one cylinder. They ran that 7700 for quite a few years before it was sold to another farmer that put more hours on it.
