We installed a pellet stove 3 years ago, it's a freestanding "Yankee" stove made by Travis Ind.
A lot of people and our stove dealer advised us to burn a few bags of different pellet brands before we bought by the ton.
Our stove heats our 2 story 1,800 sq ft home very well, she likes to keep the house around 74deg. Lately we have been going through a bag a day, we have never used more than a bag and a half a day.
We have found that we get the best heat from pellets made by "Energex (bald eagle on bag) made in PA", or "Hammer's Hot Ones made in WV".
Both brands are hardwood pellets and each are selling for $229.oo for a skid of 50 fourty lb bags at our stove dealer (in MD).
