Our REA power coop is pretty good,t hey will take care of trees on either side of the transformer. They feel it will cause issues, and safer for their own people to deal with it than to let haphazard things go wrong. They will try to get rid of real problems tho, not come back & trim the same tree every year - the tree might need to go. That sorta thing, which only makes sense.
We had a tree split in 1/2 and come down,it stretched our wires down tot he ground - about 2 feet off. Power never went off. We called the coop, they came out & about fell over - couldn't believe the wires didn't bust, couldn't believe the transformer didn't pop, or that a pole didn't snap. They looked everything over, and just couldn't believe it. They had dad cut the tree because they didn't have a big enough chain saw (they were just amazed) but took care of retightening the wires, getting everything back in shape.
