After you rotate the valve to the top, let a little burst of air out by pressing on the valve. This will blow out any droplets of liquid that are trapped around the valve and prevent them from getting into your tire gauge. Better yet, jack up the wheel, put the stem at the top, remove the valve core and check it out. If it looks like it has been damaged by the calcium, replace it. Apply a little anti-zeize compound to the new core. A liquid filled tire will always go flat faster than one without liquid because there is less air to begin with; when some air leaks out it is a greater proportion of the original air than in a non-filled tire.
