You may be interested to know of the situation in the Uk. We have 2000 acres of arable (crop) and 150 acres put out for pigs, sheep and cattle. We have the following tractors: 1973 Ford 4000: used at dairy as scraper tractor 1977 County 1174: the main ploughing tractor for the fields which are nearly always wet, and good for road work as it's bloody fast 1984 John Deere 2140: lives at the dairy permentantly hitched to a cattle feeder, also sometimes used for baling in the summer 1985 Ford 4610 turbo with loader: used for mucking out, stacking, general lifting tasks, pushing up the muck heap etc 1987 Ford 8210: the other main ploughing tractor this also has a front linkage and PTO so is used for harrowing/rolling, spraying,subsoiling and gets a lot of road use bale carting. 1988 Ford 7810: jack-of-all trades, is used for ploughing,seed drilling, post-banging, hedgecutting,cultivating,road work. 1990 Ford 7810: does the same as the above. 1989 Ford 5610: normally has a feed box on the back and is used for feeding the pigs and cattle out in the fields and for general trailer work around the farm.
