..it makes a big differance What Type of soil you are trying to compact under the cement. NEVER use anything other than clay or clean sand or rock etc. Anything that has come from a living plant such as black dirt will SWELL and SHRINK with the wet\dry seasons. Ask a building inspector where the good stuff for compacting is in your area..and use it. H
