I have been in the concrete bussines for 15 years in michigan and have same conditions as you. I suggest you install a 5" slab and use fiber mesh. If you use rebar or mesh you can not drive trucks in for placement. I suggest using 5 1/2 sack air entrained concrete mix and 1" stone. The biggest cause of concrete failure is a insufficent compacted subgrade. you can use a mechical compacter or your tractor. If you pour in sections you need to either dowel the slab together or use a keyway joint. My barn is just this same way and I run larger equipment than you are going to.Any questions just ask.
