For 2 grand, any diesel you find is gonna have some serious problems, like the one you've found. I just replaced my '95 Ford F250 powerstroke that I lost in a fire (insurance gave me $7,000- it was in average condition). In looking at the market fairly extensively, that '94 F350 in decent condition should be 5 thousand, minimum. Unless you up your budget a little, you should go for an older gasser in better shape- you'll save money in the long run.
