O/T 94 Ford F350

Well I'm still looking for a different truck. I located a 94 F350 duley like I wanted. It has a 7.3 turbo made by International the price didn't seam too bad 2,000.00 Sounded good until the owner informed me the truck wouln't go over 50 mph, because the transmission will not shift out of the lower gear. He also said it needed injuctors. Maybe should stay away from that one? What do you think? Stan
 
If it's an early 1994, it's an indirect-injected 7.3 and injectors are cheap (if that's what it really needs). New nozzles are less then $10 each. If 1994 1/2 or newer it's a direct injected Powerstroke 7.3 and injection parts a lot more pricey.

E40D trans can cost $3000 if a shop does it, but you can buy Ford authorized rebuild for $1000 (trans only, not installation cost).

Whenever somebody wants to sell something and says "all it needs is this", I kind of wonder . . . it that's really the problem,how come they don't fix it first and then sell?
 
If my memory serves me correctly if it has an auto tranny than it is a 7.3IDI (not a power stroke) if it has a manual than its a 7.3DI aka powerstroke. Both had turbos. IDI's are much cheaper to fix as far as injectors but the power stroke has a lot more power.
 
I had a 94 IDI F350. Liked it, but got to blowing too much smoke, so down the road it went...(after several years of service).

Pulled my draft horses in the 16' steel gooseneck stock trailer just fine, when it was tuned up.
 
For 2 grand, any diesel you find is gonna have some serious problems, like the one you've found. I just replaced my '95 Ford F250 powerstroke that I lost in a fire (insurance gave me $7,000- it was in average condition). In looking at the market fairly extensively, that '94 F350 in decent condition should be 5 thousand, minimum. Unless you up your budget a little, you should go for an older gasser in better shape- you'll save money in the long run.
