I guess I'm too tight or stubborn. I restored the 6V system when I did the tractor, and have never had any problems with the 6V system since total restoration in 1988. A properly maintained 6V system will perform just as well as a 12V system under the same conditions. Most of the time the "problem" with a 6V system is the 12V battery cables from the discount store. The wire size for 12V will not carry enough current in adverse conditons for a 6V system, and results in hard cranking and fryed starters eventually from insufficient current. Just my views.
