Hard to start out farming on 200 acres. IF you have dairy it takes 3-4 acres to feed all your livestock, thats about 40 milk cows and 10-20 heifers. Hard to start with only 40 cows. Whats wrong with farms over 200 acres. Are you jealous or have a chip on your shoulder for people who choose to be more ambitious and harder working. What about if I want to make more money and run more land. Even if you created a whole bunch of small farms, the farmes being who they are are going to go where goods and services are the cheapest ( for the most part). That includes chain stores like walmart and farm and fleet. The other problem is unions and the cost of living. Unions believe if you work for GM you should get 20 some bucks and hour to do simple work like put on wheels or something of that nature. If more companies would give a little more to their employes then maybe we wouldnt need unions. The other thing is that some people think that all they have to do is work for a mere 30 years and retire for another 20-30 years while the company pays for it all. I am not saying that it is all bad but some of these retirees have tons of money to buy all there toys and stuff. My grandpa farmed till he was 80 years old and his body wasnt all wore out. My dad is 65 and still farms and he is in great shape. If you take care of yourself and exercise and eat right, a person can be in great shape well into their 60s. 60% of this country is overweight and 40% is obese and we healthy people have to pay for this. I am not ranting just giving some facts. I am not saying you have to work like a slave for a 100 years just to buy a small house or anything like that. I dont know all the answers to all the problems just pointing out some what ifs. I just dont know why the President is trying to borrow his way out of a financial hole? If you ran a business in the red every year, pretty soon you would be out of business. I see your side of the coin but sometimes being an antagonist is not good either. Simple math...make more than you spend every month or year....Its up in the air, not sure what to do. If you make your bed you can lay in it. Ya catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. 80 years ago all the government did was protect the borders and deliver the mail (roughly speaking). The stuff the government does today would of been unimaginable that long ago. Those last few words of wisdom were not created by me but I feel they fit the situation. Dont do a crappy job of living your life and expect the government to take care of you. Now I am not ranting, just expressing my thoughts in a clear and calm matter. Can we have a civilized debate/discussion on this? Or are we going to start throwing mud/manure? LOL Have a great day and I hope everyone enjoys the weekend.
