I don't know if Toyota's fly by wire or not, but most Ford's I've seen still fly by wire rope... Has everyone forgotten about frayed and frozen throttle cables? Seems that nobody today has the presence of mind to kick the damn pedal up with their toe, shut the ignition off or haul it in neutral. I've had a stuck pedal on nearly every vehicle I own at some point or another; some at WOT. That has ranged from frozen cables on tractors, broken springs and linkages on mechanical truck throttle linkages and sticky potentionometer pivots on an electronic N14 Cummins... It's a sad reflection of society today that someone has to file a class action lawsuit over something so stupid. This problem could as easily have happened to Ford, GM, Chry....Fiat, VW or anyone else. It shouldn't happen... but sometimes it does.
