I would try welding it. I've used Ni rod bought from my local supplier, but recently purchased some 924 Premium Cast Alloy from Steve at U.S. Alloys, and have been tempted to break something just to try it out ;-). Do a search over on the Tool Talk board for cast iron welding, and Fred (OH) gives about the best description on how to do it. HTH!
