Sometimes when you were trying to start them they would give off a loud pop or two. Provided entertainment for the Farmall guys. An A would out pull any Farmall H ever built but some of the A guys could hardly wait for the day they could afford a Farmall M. Ms were about $400 more than an A. But then, Oliver came along with their Super 88 and the A boys forgot all about Farmalls and started buying super 88s. Made the local John Deere dealer mad because we had to go "out of town" to buy an Oliver. The next town down the road had a cutthroat Oliver dealer who sold Olivers cheaper than Fords. The local John Deere dealer had no problem with our buying another brand as long as we bought "in the home town". We had them all-except Oliver.
