T.D. I had the exact same situation. Started Directv when I had to buy the equipment yourself. Had been a staedy customer. My equipment was getting worn out, so called to get the treatment new customers were getting. Answer was "no way". At the same time I was having trouble with my dial up and telephone due to outdated phone lines.
Started checking around and found I could get microwave internet and T.V. so I signed up for that. No installation fee and no cost for the equipment. Now I have no rain fade on the T.V and have a 1.5MB internet connection. Worked so well I now have Vonage telephone on the same network. I now have no line connections for any of the systems..
Directv sends me a letter begging me to come back at least every month, but goes right in the wood stove.
