MERCY! I was just playing around on the John Deere web site. They've got a page where you can build your own tractor and get a list price on it. Just for the heck of it,I thought I'd price a 104hp 7130 MFWD. Almost $72,000! If I wanted to go with 2 wheel drive,I could have knocked off a little over $7,000. Woopie! I bought a brand new 4040 in February of 1981 for $22,900.Granted,that one was 2 wheel drive. I don't know about any of the rest of you,but I'm not making a heck of a lot more money farming these days than I was back then.
