Cat is OUT of the highway engine market as of 2010. I don't know if that's effective as of yesterday or a generalization of the 2010 'model' year. Cummins, Detroit, Mercedes Benz, Mack, Volvo, and International will remain. I think you'll find that FreightLiner is going to focus mostly on using DD/Benz engines with some Cummins. IH will be using their 'own' MaxForce engine (which I think is a rebadged Cat). Volvo/Mack seem to mostly use their own. PACCAR (Pete/Ken) is also going to their 'own' which I think is based on a European DAF engine though I think Cummins is still an option.... I think IH is keeping Cummins as an option as well... but the days of third party engines are coming to an end. They're complaining about the problems and expense involved with integrating these foolish emission systems into the chassis so they want to eliminate as much expense as possible by eliminating the options...
